Designing a multi-audience healthcare experience for Horizon Pharmacy

About Horizon Pharmacy

Horizon Pharmacy is a Rhode Island-based, closed-door pharmacy serving long-term care and behavioral health facilities. Founded in 2014, the organization operates under a unique social enterprise model, reinvesting profits into nonprofit partners that support underserved communities.

Unlike retail pharmacies, Horizon’s success depends on building long-term partnerships with facilities and supporting complex medication management for diverse populations.

The Challenge

Horizon Pharmacy’s existing website no longer reflected the organization’s growth, services, or mission.

Before

  • Built on outdated technology
  • Difficult to navigate
  • Lacking in clear audience pathways
  • Generic in its messaging

As a result, the site struggled to:

  • Support new partnership development
  • Communicate the value of Horizon’s services
  • Serve patients and other stakeholders effectively

Client goals

  • Drive new facility partnerships by clearly communicating its value
  • Support a growing patient and captive audience with accessible information
  • Serve as a hub for ongoing content, thought leadership, and community visibility
  • Reflect the organization’s mission-driven model and credibility

The approach

We approached the redesign through four key focus areas:

01. Multi-Audience UX Strategy
  • Providers vs Patients pathways
  • Clear navigation separation

02. Content
Strategy

  • Providers vs Patients pathways
  • Clear navigation separation

03. Trust-Building Design

  • Testimonials + logos
  • Partnership visibility

04. Scalable
Platform

  • Content publishing
  • CMS usability
