When DoD suspended CMMC Phase 2 in July, a lot of shops exhaled. Understandably. Third party certification was the expensive part.

Self assessments, SPRS submissions, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS 252.204-7012, incident reporting, and annual affirmations are all still in force, and the reform task force could bring Phase 2 back in a revised form. Meanwhile someone in your shop pasted a print into a chatbot last week to make sense of a callout, and that is a boundary question you cannot answer yet.
